February: The Heart of Winter

Even though we've gotten through freezing February already I wanted to share some of the photos I took during the past, month; when it seems like the shaking cold and wind will never end and the snow just keeps falling, looking beautiful but you kind of just want to remember what's underneath it all. When you completely forget what it felt like to not mentally die of cold when you go outside, shivering like crazy, teeth chattering, and not being able to feel your toes; but to feel the sunshine on you warming you all the way through. Then suddenly it comes!! for a brief week or so it dares to reach the inconceivable temperatures in the 50s and 60s, you think that spring is on the way and that beautiful time of year when everyone is happy and everything is just sunshine and roses; then wait, what were you thinking!! there is still a good while before all of that glorious stuff comes along, don't go running outside in shorts just yet. So were back to that gut- wrenching, frigid weather, well  you know what? soon we'll wish that it was this super cold weather in the humid summer, that's what comes of living in the ever weather changing state of Missouri. So be glad! maybe all this cold weather will mean less bugs! There's a cheerful thought, for me at least! :) Back to that beauty of the season,the true heart of  winter: February. Enjoy these pictures of this truly amazing, yet very cold time of year and think happy thoughts of a new season just around the corner!

Saw this and thought it was pretty awesome!! Frozen lock! haha!, wouldn't be funny if you couldn't get into it if you needed to though. This is just a small metal cabinet we don't use until summer, so it's all good.

Hallow gallon cans we use for plants in the garden. I liked how the icicles hung off  and there was a little bit of snow inside them.

Pathway my daddy made to get back to where the wood for the stoves is. This really emphasizes how deep that last snow was.

The last traces of sunlight hit the tree and shed so beautifully I couldn't help but capture it!
